Therapy is an investment in yourself, and trust me, it’s worth it!

  • Yes!
I accept: Kaiser, United Healthcare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Aetna

  • Insurance is a complex system, with lots of caveats. Here are some basics:

In-Network: I have a contract with your insurance company.

Out-of-Network: I don’t have a contract with your insurance company, but you might have Out-of-Network benefits, meaning you could get reimbursed after you pay for sessions.

Copay: What you owe per session; a fixed fee. This is set by your insurance company.

Co-insurance: A percentage you pay after meeting your deductible.

Deductible: The amount you pay out-of-pocket before insurance kicks in. If you have a high deductible plan, you will have to pay self-pay rates until your deductible is met.

Please note: insurance pays for 53- minute sessions. I offer longer sessions at a private rate because sometimes clients need more time to do hard work, particularly when utilizing EMDR and doing trauma work.

I am not a Medicaid provider. Per Colorado law, clients with Medicaid are not allowed to pay out-of-pocket for services covered by Medicaid, including individual psychotherapy.

  • Call your insurance provider and ask:

    calling the insurer:

    • Is the provider in-network?

    • What’s my deductible?

    • What’s my copay or coinsurance?

    • Do I need pre-authorization?

  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure you save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprise or call 1.800.985.3059. This is effective 01/01/2022.

  • Not usually.

If you request that I attend multidisciplinary team meetings, I charge my hourly rate.

After-hours sessions are billed in 15-minute increments. 15 minutes = $65. For more information, click here

  • While using insurance can make therapy more affordable, some clients prefer to pay privately for a few important reasons:

    • Privacy: Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis and access to records. Private pay offers more confidentiality and control over your protected health information (PHI).

    • Flexibility: Insurance plans limit the type, length, and (sometimes) number of sessions covered. Private pay allows us to work together in the way that best fits your needs - not what’s dictated by your insurance.

    • No Diagnosis Required: Not everyone seeking therapy meets criteria for a diagnosis, and not all concerns or stressors need to be pathologized.

    • More Treatment Options: Some specialized services (like EMDR intensives or certain trauma therapies) may not be covered by insurance but are still a necessary part of a client’s healing journey.
